Blog Farewell
If you wish (optional, don't have to, but welcome to if you wish), take a few moments and write a Blog Farewell in whatever form you want. Thank you all for your open, thoughtful contributions to this blog--It has been a wonderful place to 'hear' all of your voices in a different setting.

TED follow up
Check out Joshua Prager, 'Half-Life' on Amazon and click on the 'look inside'. It's interesting to see the decisions he made in re-focusing his book to make a shorter point and how he used the parts of his story.

5 Min. Intro of myself
As most of you know, my name is Lauren Cressey. I started at Waynflete my freshman year, after having a really rough go of it at the Middle School of the Kennebunks. For my seventh and eighth grade years, I was consistently getting F's and D's, which was unacceptable for my family, and clearly I had to change something. So I decided to change schools. Coming to Waynflete was possibly one of the best things that has ever happened to me. It completely changed my outlook on school, and my outlook on good, consistent work ethic. That alone has made my life so much easier for the past three years. For the past 17 years, I have lived in Kennebunk, with my parents, two brothers, and my sister. I have three dogs and a cat, and I spend most of my free time either playing field hockey, or sitting around in my house eating food and watching TV shows on Netflix. Up until this summer, when I got a job working as a pastry chef for a restaurant, I wanted to be a chef. Now that I have experienced what life is like working in an actual kitchen, I'm pretty convinced that that is not what I want to do for the rest of my life. I have pretty poor time management, and I"m pretty sure that I have been working on this for over five minutes, so I will end this introduction.

Welcome!
Welcome to our class 'chapbook.' This is a space for you to further practice your craft of essay writing without worrying about how it will become a fully developed piece. You could think of it as an on-line, public journal (hey, isn't that what a blog is?).
**Each of you should spend 5-10 minutes on Mon., Tues., and Wed. nights writing. On Thurs., choose one piece of a classmate's writing to respond to. Be specific in your praise and advice for improvement. "This is great," helps no one. You could address the topic of the writing, the sentence styling, word choice, word order, offer suggestions, ask questions, etc. Remember to respect each other.
